Remote Monitoring - the future of lift management:

A visit to Germany in 1998 saw the first concepts of what is now ACE Lifts Remote Monitoring System being realised. Charles Salter (ACE Managing Director) quickly recognised that advances in technology meant that communication channels in lifts could be utilised to great effect. Inspired by what he saw in Germany Charles then developed the ACE Lifts Remote Monitoring System as he was convinced that the potential savings and advantages of this system to businesses would be phenomenal.

It is now a legal requirement for a telephone line to be installed in a lift for passenger safety reasons and the ACE Lifts Remote Monitoring is a simple addition to this. The system operates entirely from Windows software and the user is then able to choose any system and monitor it remotely. The system is able to place calls in 'real time' and watch the lift respond accordingly. It can also monitor the number of journeys the lift has made and offer a detailed look at the time and date of any faults. A suitably qualified engineer could even view the actual lift fault log, as if he was standing in front of the lift control panel. This can reduce the need for on-site visits, or assist as a supervisory role during faultfinding.

The added benefit of less site visits is that this enables clients to adhere to corporate responsibilities by reducing their carbon footprint. We are all aware that greater sustainability is something that many organisations are aiming to achieve and ACE Lifts Remote Monitoring is the perfect solution - whilst also saving the client money! Because we are able to accurately view how each lift is used we can use this information to predict the wear and tear, and the likely replacement schedule for parts, and consumables. This 'preventative maintenance' enables us to plan any work in advance to avoid any disruption to the organisation involved. This means that our clients experience much less 'down time,' the number of unexpected call outs are greatly reduced and huge cost savings are regularly made.

Refurbishment and Modernisation

It is not always necessary to replace an old lift. If it were part of the fabric of the building replacing it would be incredibly expensive and time consuming. ACE Lifts modernisation programme includes the replacement of old, or obsolete components with modern 'up to date' parts including features that were unavailable when the lift was first installed. This will help the upgraded system comply with new regulations, allow a more efficient and more economical system and a better service for your customers. An ACE Lifts' modernisation programme could involve replacing the lift control panel with a modern motor control that results in a more reliable lift and a smoother ride with accurate floor leveling regardless of load. Finally, a modernisation programme will aid older lifts to meet health and safety regulations by incorporating modern safety devices that will benefit users as well as lift service engineers.

Efficiency and Safety

Older components can result in lift breakdowns at inconvenient times and regular breakdowns will cost more in repairs and running costs. As well as providing a more efficient and safer lift system, ACE Lifts can also provide aesthetic improvements. This could involve re-placing lift doors, buttons and DDA indicators that will not only enhance the value of the property but also give the owner peace of mind that they run a lift system that is safe, efficient, economical and good to look at. Lift modernisation can also help to meet new legislation regarding disabled access to the building. This may involve voice enunciators, digital position indicators, Braille push buttons and infra-red door detectors.
